Dave Wipert - Lead Singer

Dave started singing about that same time he learned to talk.  His parents recall little Davey standing in front of their HiFi stereo singing along to “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head”.  As a young boy Dave would only sing alone in his room to his favorite hits until one day his 7th grade teacher asked him to sing while playing the guitar in front of his classmates...although horrified, he sang the song and recieved a roaring applause.  This was that defining moment when he realized he could actually sing. 

He started his first band in 1987 and performed at his sister’s wedding in 1990.  Years later, he entered a vocal contest at the original Saddle Rack nightclub in San Jose, CA.  Out of over 100 contestants, Dave finished victorious as the Grand Prize winner. 

He then joined a cover band and became close friends with drummer Lorenz Cornelisen.  Lorenz introduced him to musicians who were interested in writing original material.  That project soon became Chromata.

Steve Kolokithas - Guitar

Born in the Bay Area, Steve Kolokithas has shared his musical talents with local crowds for over 27 years.  His accomplishments as a lead guitarist and writing collaborator are evident in music from bands including Vex, DPS, The Exception, Tinman, Dreamland, and Chromata.  
A true audiophile and savvy engineer, Steve spends much of his time in the recording studio, sculpting texture, tone, and dynamics from every recorded track.  He has an innate gift for arranging, mixing and producing music, yielding phenomenal works including debut CDs for Chromata, Stoned Romeos (San Jose), and Etc. (Danville).

Steve brings his signature sound and six-stringed wizardry to his live performances, creating a tidal-wave of sound so intense, it’s hard to believe there aren’t two players.  His band-mates will attest to the kindness and professionalism he brings to all facets of his life.  Many a band owes a debt of gratitude to Steve for contributing to the creativity, the camaraderie, the solidarity, and of course the quality that keeps the music alive.

Steve "Meat" Nohelty - Drums

Steve has been playing drums since he was 10 years old. His drumming style includes progressive and melodic metal and tends to gravitate towards more aggressive rythyms.  

He joined his first band at the age of 20 and has been active since.  Steve and current singer Dave Wipert performed together in a band called Lunatic Fringe before joining Dave and guitarist Steve Kolokithas in his current band Chromata

Rick Stanley - Bass

Rick started playing music at the age of 10 when a  trombone troupe came to his school.   He was hooked.  Over the next 10 years he played in local bands and county orchestras.

While shopping with his parents at a local mall, Rick saw Buddy Rich performing drums with his band.  This was the new direction he wanted to go and started playing drums, which led him to start his first Rock band called Montauge. 

Rick has since played events and clubs with various bands (The Upbeats, The Four Hearts, The Unknown Band) over the next 25 years.

He started playing bass in 2004 when a work buddy, current Chromata drummer Steve Nohelty, needed a bass player for his band named Prime Directive.  Prime Directive eventually became Lunatic Fringe where he met current Chromata lead singer Dave Wipert.  Chromata would soon be born again!
